It’s that time again, when we honor our moms on their special day. But what present to bring her? Fortunately, Coral Gables has plenty to offer for this Mother’s Day, with boutiques that have more than just the usual gifts. Whether your mom loves fashion, jewelry, perfume, sweets, or unique home items, you’ll find something in the Gables to make her feel special. Here are just a few suggestions.
Flowers

BELLE FLEUR – A MOTHER’S DAY STAPLE
Flowers have always been a Mother’s Day staple, and Belle Fleur has been the go-to in Coral Gables for 27 years. Owner Mario Fernandez tailors every arrangement to what you are looking for, from wrapped roses starting at $75 to the orchid planter combining White Phalaenopsis Orchid, hydrangea and Hypericum berries. If you are looking for a grander gesture, the full arrangements bring together hydrangeas, roses, tulips and seasonal blooms to cover every budget starting at $125.

COCO BELLA FOR A VAST ARRAY OF GIFTS
Just down the street, Coco Bella is the kind of store where you walk in with a gift in mind and end up finding something different – and hopefully better. The shop carries a vast array of unique gifts, from reed diffusers, candles and artisanal mugs to hanging planters, greeting cards, and home accents that feel handpicked rather than mass produced. For a smaller budget, the jewelry counter has beaded bracelets starting at $18 and layered necklaces, colorful charm bracelets and dainty chains starting at $25. If mom is more of a homebody, the shelves are stocked with painted glassware, candles and small trinkets she will use.

BRUCE AND JILLIAN HORNICK OF JAE’S JEWELERS
Jae’s Jewelers is a mainstay in the Coral Gables community, having been in business on Miracle Mile since the mid 1950s. Originally founded by George Hornick, it is now run by his son Bruce and his granddaughter Jillian, a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America. They specialize in diamonds and vintage/estate jewelry, and while they do carry brands like Roberto Coin and Montblanc, they offer significant savings “if you look past the brand names,” says Jillian. Most of their jewelry they purchase from the public, so much of it is vintage. Recommended for mom this month: a diamond tennis bracelet ($3,500), a diamond solitaire necklace ($995), or a gold paperclip chain ($1,200).

Perfume

At the Shops at Merrick Park, Tiffany & Co. is known for its jewelry, but this Mother’s Day, the fragrance counter is worth the detour. The original Tiffany at $150 is a clean blend of mandarin and iris, understated and easy to wear every day, the kind of scent that just becomes hers. The Rose Gold Intense at $190 opens with a kick of pink pepper and settles into something deeper, a warm patchouli base that lingers in the best way. There are more options in store and online, but go in person if you can, smelling them in real life makes all the difference.

NEOKLASIK MIAMI FOR SWEET GIFT IDEAS
If your mother is the kind of person who appreciates a good cup of coffee and something sweet to go with it, Neoklasik Miami on Miracle Mile is a thoughtful place to look. One gift idea is to build a simple pairing around one of the shop’s coffees and a box of chocolates or pastries. It feels easy and personal – something she can actually enjoy, whether that means a slow morning at home or an afternoon break between errands. It is the kind of gift that’s lowkey, comforting and likely to be appreciated down to the last bite.

For the Active Mom

For the mom who is always on the go, Alo Yoga at Shops at Merrick Park is an easy place to start. A good pick is the Airlift High-Waist Suit Up Legging, which has that rare combination of comfort and luxe. It works for Pilates, long walks, errands, or just everyday life when she wants to feel put together without trying too hard. That is really the appeal of a gift like this: it is useful, flattering, and feels like something she might choose for herself, which is often the sweet spot when it comes to Mother’s Day.
