An Evening with Devon Rodriguez
October 8 @ 7:00 pm
Books & Books welcomes portrait artist and author Devon Rodriguez for an evening celebrating the release of his memoir, “Work in Progress.”
Rodriguez is known for his hyperrealistic portraits and videos featuring strangers, including his widely shared sketches of New York City subway riders. In his memoir, the Bronx-born artist turns the focus toward his own life, writing about childhood abuse, the role art played in helping him cope, and the unconventional path that led him to build a career through social media rather than traditional gallery representation.
Rodriguez has drawn more than 1,000 people and has portrayed figures including former President Joe Biden and Oprah Winfrey. His work has appeared in The New Yorker and The New York Times. He was also named a 2025 Time100 Creator and a Forbes Top Creator.
