IT’S A DOGS WORLD
At Loews Coral Gables, the Four-Legged Guest Gets the Full Hotel Treatment
Within Minutes of Checking Into Loews Coral Gables Hotel, My Husky Had Made Herself Comfortable in the Middle of the Bed, Looking Like She Had Booked the Room Herself. Waiting Nearby Was a Loews Loves Pets Welcome Bag With Dog Bowls, a Pet Mat and Treats – a Welcome That Made the Weekend Feel Easier.
Through Loews Loves Pets, dogs and cats are welcomed with pet amenities, walking-route information and access to an in-room dining menu. The hotel charges a one-time $75 pet fee per stay and allows up to two pets per room.
The hotel sits at The Plaza Coral Gables, so walks were easy. We couldhead downstairs, grab a dessert crepe from Sweet Paris, circle the lawn and wander the paths.

Dinner was at Americana Kitchen, the hotel’s restaurant, where dogs can join their owners on the outdoor terrace. We started with the Bluefin Tuna Tartare, then shared the New York strip, grilled lemon-brined chicken, whipped potatoes and asparagus. The steak especially stood out.
Fendi’s dinner came later upstairs, since the pet menu is only available through Americana Kitchen’s in-room dining service. Choices include Bow Wow Tenderloin of Beef, Chicken Puppy Bites, Kitty Salmon Supreme and the Great Vegetable Feast. We ordered the Chicken Puppy Bites, which arrived chopped with vegetables in her bowl. She finished it quickly, then checked the bowl again just in case.
Later that evening, after a walk around The Plaza, we returned after turndown service to find frozen yogurt with blueberries arranged in the shape of a paw waiting for Fendi. I appreciated the presentation; she was more interested in making it disappear.

The rest of the stay was just as easy. Fendi stretched across the bed, watched a Miami rainstorm through the windows and came downstairs whenever it was time for another walk. That was what stood out most: the dog-friendly details are worked naturally into the stay.
Even checkout was not quite the end. Before heading home, we returned to Americana Kitchen for Sunday brunch, where the chicken and waffles were especially good and well worth ordering. With a brunch menu, Champagne cart, poptails, and tableside ice cream, it was a nice last stop.
