Teófilo Victoria Lecture Series III featuring Jorge A. Sánchez de Ortigosa

April 16 @ 5:30 pm 7:30 pm

The third installment of the Teofilo Victoria Series features Jorge A. Sanchez, Principal and President of SMI Landscape Architecture, LLC.

Sanchez built his practice around a philosophy that merges a botanical garden approach with historic and classical formal garden design, producing landscapes that are both visually distinctive and deeply considered. SMI is recognized not only for original design work but also for the preservation and restoration of historic landscapes. The firm’s projects have been published in national magazines and documented in three books: The Civilized Jungle, The Making of Three Gardens, and The Private Gardens of SMI Landscape Architecture.

Sanchez has received some of the field’s most respected honors, including the Arthur Ross Award in Landscape Architecture in 2010, recognized for bringing classical structure to the abundance of tropical gardens, and the Thomas N. Armstrong III Award in Landscape Design from the New York School of Interior Design. He has served on zoning and architectural boards for the Town of Palm Beach and currently serves as a Director of the Garden Conservancy.
