Surround Sound
April 10 @ 8:00 pm

Seraphic Fire closes out its celebratory season with a concert experience rooted in the grand polychoral tradition of Venice’s Basilica of San Marco. Conductor Patrick Dupre Quigley leads the full choir alongside a period instrument quartet in a program that places the audience at the center of the performance, with singers positioned throughout the room in a true surround-sound arrangement.
The concert features music by Claudio Monteverdi, including his Ave Regina, performed in the style of the layered, multi-directional sound that defined sacred music in Renaissance Venice. This is not a traditional concert setup. The polychoral format means sound comes from every corner of the room, putting listeners inside the music rather than in front of it.
A Pre-Concert Conversation with Dr. James K. Bass will take place one hour before the performance.
