New Books in Cuban Studies

The Cuban Heritage Collection presents a virtual discussion featuring María Elena Díaz and Raquel Alicia Otheguy, examining Afro-Cuban struggles for emancipation, equality, and access to education during the colonial and 19th-century periods.

Each author will present research from their recent work, followed by commentary from Elena Schneider, Sonne Chair of Latin American History at the University of California, Berkeley. The program will conclude with a live Q&A session with the audience.
