Light and Reflection | Frost Wind Ensemble

November 1 @ 4:00 pm

The Frost Wind Ensemble performs “Light and Reflection,” a concert of contemporary music featuring guest artists Jennifer Grim on flute and Hilá Plitmann on soprano vocals. The program explores the use of color, atmosphere, and storytelling in orchestral composition.

Grim is featured as soloist in Kevin Day’s “Glimmerglass,” a work highlighting the flute’s expressive range. The program also includes Ryan Lindveit’s “Color Theory” and Joseph Schwantner’s “…and the mountains rising nowhere,” known for its distinctive instrumentation and orchestral textures.

Plitmann performs a vocal work inspired by Ted Kooser’s poem “Mother,” which explores themes of memory, loss, and renewal. Together, the selections demonstrate different approaches to contemporary wind ensemble music, combining instrumental compositions with vocal performance.
