Cuba en la Memoria: Música, Arte, y Poesía
October 25 @ 3:00 pm

The N Blanco Y Negro Piano Duo presents “Cuba en la Memoria,” a multidisciplinary concert featuring works by 19th- and 20th-century Cuban composers. The program combines live piano performances, poetry readings, and projected artwork to explore Cuba’s cultural heritage and the role of music, literature, and visual art in preserving its history.
Through these three artistic disciplines, the concert examines themes of cultural identity, memory, and the Cuban exile experience, reflecting the connection between Cubans living abroad and their homeland.
Founded in Miami in 2017, N Blanco Y Negro consists of Cuban-descended pianists Mirta Gómez and Sahily Cánovas. Gómez graduated from the Juilliard School in New York, while Cánovas studied at the Kyiv and Odesa State Conservatories in Ukraine. Both musicians have performed internationally as soloists and as a duo.
The ensemble has received several international honors, including gold medals in Macedonia and Italy, recognition as a laureate in France, and the 2023 Euterpe Music Awards in Berlin. Most recently, the duo earned a bronze medal at the 2025 International Schubert Competition in Vienna.
