A Conversation with Amanda Keeley & Josh Aronson
October 25 @ 7:00 pm

Books & Books hosts EXILE Projects founder Amanda Keeley and photographer Josh Aronson for a discussion of “Miami Reads,” a community photography and publishing project that explores the connections between books, personal identity, and Miami’s reading community.
The project documents Photo Book Speed Date, a public gathering organized by EXILE Projects at the Miami-Dade Public Library’s Main Library in March 2026. Inspired by a format developed by Aronson, the event invited participants to bring a meaningful art or photography book from their personal collections and be photographed holding their selections. The resulting publication brings these portraits together, offering a collective view of Miami through its residents and the books that reflect their interests, memories, and influences.
During the conversation, Keeley and Aronson will discuss the project’s origins, its development in Miami, and how the interactions between participants evolved into a photographic publication. They will also explore the experience’s influence on Aronson’s artistic practice.
Founded by Keeley in 2014, EXILE Projects is a Miami-based nonprofit press dedicated to experimental artists’ publications and independent print culture through workshops, exhibitions, talks, and fairs.
