Beyond Limits | Dr. Shelley Sella in conversation with Kamila P.
October 29 @ 5:30 pm

Books & Books welcomes Dr. Shelley Sella for a discussion of her book, “Beyond Limits: Stories of Third-Trimester Abortion Care,” in partnership with the Women’s Emergency Network (WEN), Progress Florida, and Patient Forward. The conversation will be moderated by Kamila, executive director of WEN.
Drawing from her 20 years of experience providing third-trimester abortion care, Sella examines the medical, personal, and social circumstances that lead patients to end their pregnancies. The book follows a typical week at her clinic, sharing accounts involving severe fetal diagnoses, complications following fertility treatments, and domestic violence. Through these experiences, Sella addresses the complexities of later abortion care and the experiences of patients navigating difficult medical decisions.
Sella is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and the first woman to openly practice third-trimester abortion care in the United States. She was featured in the Emmy Award-winning documentary “After Tiller” and received the National Abortion Federation’s Christopher Tietze Humanitarian Award in 2022.
