A Morning with Jasmine Izaguirre

Author and educator Jasmine Izaguirre, founder of the Bee Nice Foundation, will discuss her children’s book, “Ofelia the Bee,” during a free public event.

The book introduces young readers to the inner workings of a beehive through the story of Ofelia, explaining the roles of queen bees, worker bees, and drones and how each contributes to the survival of the hive. The story combines scientific information with storytelling to teach children about bees, pollination, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting pollinator habitats.

Izaguirre founded the Miami-based Bee Nice Foundation, a nonprofit focused on pollinator education, native pollinator gardens, support for local beekeepers and bee rescues, and community conservation projects. Proceeds from sales of “Ofelia the Bee” support the foundation’s educational and conservation initiatives.
