Our Quick Bites normally showcase one dish that sends us around town to try several versions, from baked goods to oysters. For the Dog Issue, we handed the assignment to the pups. We stopped at five local spots, from restaurants to dog groomers, where they could pick up a treat of their own.
NEOKLASIK MODERN ARTISAN BAKERY
When the weather gets too hot, as it does most days in summer, a detour to Neoklasik may be in order. The Turkish artisan bakery and café offers complimentary ice cream pup cups made with lactose- free yogurt, banana and peanut butter, all served in paw-print containers. Just keep an eye on the cup, since your pup may assume it is part of the treat.

PURA VIDA
The colorful macarons at Pura Vida might be tempting to order for yourself. But take a closer look and you’ll notice they are made especially for your pooch. Flavors include blueberry banana, peanut butter, and purple sweet potato. Each $8.56 box comes with three macarons made without added sugar or artificial preservatives. They may look too pretty to eat, but your dog won’t hesitate.

GROU COFFEE + COWORK
At GROU Coffee + Cowork, dogs can have a complimentary pup cup made with whipped cream and topped with a bone-shaped treat. Dogs are also welcome inside, which helps when you plan to stay for more than a quick coffee. One pup cup may quickly turn into several once the puppy eyes come out.

WOOFGANG BAKERY & GROOMING
Passing by Woofgang, we could tell our dog was already intrigued, sniffing as we walked inside. The wide-eyed look gave away what had caught her attention: a center table of dog cookies, priced from $4.99 to $7.99 for the larger ones. Our dog’s favorite was the Pup-a- Licious peanut butter treat, made with all-natural, dog-safe peanut butter and whole grains. Healthy and gone.

SHAKE SHACK
Shake Shack offers its Bag O’ Bones, a $10.75 pack of five boneshaped biscuits. The treats are made by Bocce’s Bakery, which began in a New York City kitchen after its founders became concerned about the ingredients in treats they fed their dog Bocce. Each biscuit contains rye flour, beef, beef liver, carrots, cheddar and parsley. Larger than the average dog biscuit, the first one disappeared quickly.
