Coral Gables Museum Launches Artist Call for “Capture Coral Gables 2020”
The Coral Gables Museum has launched the Call for Applications for the sixth edition of the popular photography contest, Capture Coral Gables 2020.
The call was announced during the Panel Discussion, The Making of The Art of Compassion: From Conception to Exhibition, which gathered some of the participants and the organizers of the groundbreaking photography show “The Art of Compassion,” currently on view in the Museum’s Gallery 109 and Abraham Gallery through Sept. 23, 2019.
The Coral Gables Museum invited photographers of all ages and backgrounds to submit their photographic work to Capture Coral Gables between Aug. 1, 2019 and Jan. 19, 2020 for a chance to be included in the finalists’ exhibition, and to win exciting prizes.
As in previous editions, a total of five awards will be granted for the following categories: Portraiture, including works that shed light on the ordinary and the extraordinary people of our city; Street Photography, for photographs where the streets of Coral Gables are the protagonist; Nature/Landscape, for outdoor photography based on nature; Night Photography, for works that explore the city’s nightlife and culture; and Digital Photo Manipulation for photography-based works realized with the different digital tools available (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
There will also be a People’s Choice Award, and the Grand Prize (Jurors’ Pick). The Grand Prize will receive one of the latest Leica cameras in the market, thanks to the Leica Store Miami, the Museum’s primary sponsor of the contest.
The Capture Coral Gables finalists will be invited to participate in an exhibition at the Museum’s Community Meeting Room from Feb. 7 to March 5, 2020. The opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, from 7 – 9 p.m.
Now in its sixth edition, Capture Coral Gables has created the tradition of presenting fresh lenses helping us update our image of the City of Coral Gables and its people, as we celebrate the City Beautiful.
