Gerald Clayton | Frost Jazz Orchestra
October 23 @ 7:30 pm

The University of Miami’s Frost School of Music presents pianist and composer Gerald Clayton with the Grammy-nominated Frost Jazz Orchestra, directed by John Daversa, on Friday, October 23, at 7:30 pm at Gusman Concert Hall.
A six-time Grammy-nominated musician and a leading figure in contemporary jazz, Clayton is known for his improvisational approach, lyrical piano playing, and compositions that draw on both traditional and modern jazz. The son of bassist and composer John Clayton, he has developed an international career that includes collaborations with saxophonist Charles Lloyd and the release of his Grammy-nominated Blue Note album, “Happening: Live at the Village Vanguard.”
The concert brings Clayton’s improvisational style together with the Frost Jazz Orchestra’s large-ensemble arrangements, emphasizing the musical exchange between solo piano and orchestra under Daversa’s direction.
