Coral Gables Art Cinema hosts a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, May 27, bringing together Miami’s leading film nonprofits for a conversation about the local filmmaking community. The event runs from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, RSVP required.
The discussion will cover what each organization is currently working on, what resources and support they can offer filmmakers, and what the broader community can do to help keep local stories reaching the screen.
Speakers include Brenda Moe, Executive Director and Programming Director of Coral Gables Art Cinema; Hansel Porras Garcia, Cinematic Manager at Oolite Arts and filmmaker whose feature Febrero received the Knight Made in MIA Award at the 2023 Miami Film Festival; James Woolley, a festival organizer with nearly two decades of experience across more than 20 large-scale festivals worldwide; Jennifer Orta Castellanos, founder of Miami Film Lab and a filmmaker with credits spanning Discovery Networks and studio productions including Iron Man 3 and Bad Monkey; Jose Jacho, co-founder of Filmgate Miami and the Downtown Media Center; Kevin Ondarza, co-founder of the White Elephant Group Film Collective and artistic director of the After School Film Institute; Sandy Lighterman, President of Film Florida and Greater Fort Lauderdale Film Commissioner; and Vivian Marthell, Co-Founder and CEO of O Cinema.
