Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restaurants are closing their dining rooms to prevent spreading the illness. However, many are keeping their kitchens open and offering takeout, curbside pickup and delivery. Some even have special offers or free delivery through apps like Postmates, Uber Eats, GrubHub and DoorDash. The city is converting all centralized valet locations in the downtown to takeout and pickup zones, except for the valet stand on the 200 block of Miracle Mile. Parking lot 25 adjacent to Giralda Plaza, the 200 block of Andalusia Avenue near Chocolate Fashion and the 2400 block of Ponce de Leon Boulevard near Cheesecake Factory will also be designated pickup zones, where parking is free for 10 minutes. The menu is reduced, but the quality is excellent, so you won’t notice. You can only order online, but their system is high tech and smooth. Everything is ready in 30 minutes, with a text sent if they beat that. Some nice family dinners for $79 (ribs, fried chicken, chicken parm, roast chicken), but you have to order them by noon the day before. And 10 percent off if you pick up from their outside window on the Mile.

Eating House

The Globe

Unlike most other COVID-19 menus, The Globe is not removing any items from their regular food offerings. So yes, you can still get their Globe Salad, the streak frites or the conch fritters. Always known for their pasta, they are offering their full menu of variations on that theme. Pickup is right inside the restaurant door, with one masked staffer making the handoff. They are open for lunch or dinner takeout with easy parking on Ponce. We tried the Ravioli Bombay, which is ravioli stuffed with chicken and spinach, with a curry sauce, diced apples, raisins, almonds and whipped cream. As good as it sounds.

One of the best takeout setups in the city. Only for dinner, with a special menu, but excellent selections (their seabass and branzino dishes are spectacular). The meals are bagged and brought to your car, with staff wearing masks and gloves. Truly special is that all dishes come in aluminum containers, so you can reheat them at home (and kill any potential germs). Also, they are offering 25 percent off their regular wine list.
