WindFest | Chamber Music Series

March 3 @ 7:30 pm

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center brings its national touring program, Windfest, to the stage with a program centered on wind chamber repertoire from the 19th and 20th centuries. The concert features a range of instrumental combinations, from intimate duos to full sextet.

The program opens with Émile Bernard Emmanuel’s Sonata for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano, Op. 11 (1907), followed by Richard Strauss’ Andante for Horn and Piano (1888) and Carl Czerny’s Andante e polacca in E major for Horn and Piano (1848). August Klughardt’s Quintet in C major for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, and Bassoon, Op. 79 (circa 1898) highlights the traditional wind quintet format.

André Jolivet’s Sonatine for Oboe and Bassoon (1963) focuses on the double reed pairing, while Louise Farrenc’s Sextet in C minor for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, and Piano, Op. 40 (1861) closes the program with expanded instrumentation that integrates piano into the wind ensemble.
