Virginia Woolf’s Night & Day

Based on Virginia Woolf’s novel, “Night & Day” follows Katharine Hilbery, an astronomer living in London in 1910 who is determined to avoid marriage and conventional romantic expectations. The comedy explores Katharine’s efforts to pursue her interests and independence while navigating relationships, work, and the social expectations placed on women.

Set during a period of scientific and technological change, the film also looks at the shifting roles of women and the decline of traditional Edwardian social structures. The story centers on questions of love, marriage, and whether women can pursue both personal relationships and professional ambitions.
