The Ox-Bow Incident

“The Ox-Bow Incident” follows Gil Carter, played by Henry Fonda, and Art Croft, played by Henry Morgan, as they arrive in a Western town already angered by a series of cattle thefts. When news spreads that a local rancher has been murdered, the town’s mayor organizes a posse to search for those believed to be responsible.
Gil and Croft become part of the group as suspicion turns toward several men accused of the crime. As the posse moves forward without clear proof, the film examines the consequences of mob mentality, revenge, and making judgments before the facts are known.
Directed by William Wellman, the 1943 Western was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. The cast also includes Dana Andrews and Anthony Quinn.
