The Last Partera

Watch a screening of the documentary “The Last Partera,” followed by a live virtual Q and A with filmmaker Dudley Alexis and director and producer Victoria Bouloubasis. The film follows Doña Miriam Elizondo, a nearly 100 year old traditional midwife in Costa Rica, during the final years of her life and work. The documentary looks at her role supporting generations of mothers while also examining changing conversations around women’s health and midwifery. Through her mentorship of younger practitioners and visitors from around the world, the film highlights the passing of knowledge between generations.
