Set in 1957 during the Cold War, “The Iron Giant” follows nine-year-old Hogarth Hughes, a curious boy living in the small town of Rockwell, Maine, who discovers a giant metal robot that has mysteriously arrived from outer space. As Hogarth forms an unlikely friendship with the towering machine, the robot’s presence sparks fear and suspicion among residents and government officials, placing both of them in danger.
Directed by Brad Bird in his feature film debut, the animated classic combines science fiction, adventure, and coming-of-age storytelling while exploring themes of friendship, acceptance, and personal choice.
