Manhunter: The Final Cut

Michael Mann’s 1986 thriller “Manhunter” returns in a new 4K Final Cut marking the film’s 40th anniversary.
William Petersen stars as a retired criminal profiler who reluctantly returns to the FBI to help track down a serial killer targeting families. During the investigation, he consults imprisoned psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecktor, played by Brian Cox. The cast also includes Tom Noonan and three-time Oscar nominee Joan Allen.
Written and directed by Mann, “Manhunter” is an adaptation of the first of Thomas Harris’s four novels featuring Hannibal Lecktor. The film was Mann’s third feature as both writer and director.
The new 4K Final Cut was overseen by Mann and features restored picture and sound. The original 35mm negative, along with several shots sourced from an interpositive, was scanned in 4K and digitally restored at L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna. The restoration follows a new reference edit completed by Mann.
