Expert Tour: Women Artists in the Lowe from the Renaissance to the 21st Century
October 10 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Inspired by the Lowe Art Museum’s fall 2025 special exhibition artist Petah Coyne, docent Carol Millas leads a tour focused on women artists represented throughout the museum’s collection.
The tour takes its title from the Guerrilla Girls’ well-known critique of women’s representation in museums. Coyne, along with photographer Kathy Grove, documented the anonymous feminist art collective.
Featured artists include Sofonisba Anguissola, Cindy Sherman, and Helen Frankenthaler. The tour will also highlight Frankenthaler’s works on paper, which are on view for a limited time, while examining the perspectives and contributions of women artists across different periods represented at the Lowe.
