Family Day on Aragon

The Coral Gables Museum and Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired present a Family Day in recognition of Cortical Visual Impairment Awareness Month and the unveiling of “America Touched, America Seen.” Programming is designed for families of all ages and abilities and focuses on accessible ways to engage with art, sports, books, and games.
From 10 am to 5 pm, The Museum Project leads a tactile arts and crafts activity inspired by “America Touched, America Seen.” Blind soccer demonstrations take place from 11 am to noon and 1 to 2 pm with U.S. National Blind Soccer Team member Oseas De Leon. Participants can learn how the sport is played and take part in drills using blindfolds, specialized soccer balls, and adapted equipment.
From 3 to 4 pm, Miami Lighthouse Academy presents a storytime with Braille books and educational activities for children with visual impairments. Chess and accessible games run from 3 to 5 pm, with tactile chess sets, Braille dominoes, Braille UNO, low-vision playing cards, and other accessible games available.
An all-day self-guided scavenger hunt also takes visitors through the museum’s “La Vida es un Carnaval de Barranquilla” and “America Touched, America Seen” exhibitions.
