An Evening with Carlos Gutierrez

Books & Books hosts an evening with Carlos Gutierrez, former CEO of Kellogg’s and U.S. Secretary of Commerce under President George W. Bush, to discuss his memoir, “Sheer Will.” Gutierrez recounts his journey from fleeing Cuba as a child to beginning his career selling cereal in Mexico and eventually becoming the youngest CEO in Kellogg’s history. The book explores his experiences in business and government, his unconventional path to leadership without a college degree, and his ADHD diagnosis at age 65. He also reflects on the role of perseverance, risk-taking, and problem-solving throughout his career.
