A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.

Linen has been around for thousands of years, valued for its durability, breathability, and comfort in warm weather. In South Florida, it hardly needs an introduction, but Linen Drama makes considerably more of the familiar fabric, with everything from shirts and trousers for everyday wear to embroidered dresses for an evening out.

The boutique recently celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting attended by Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago and supported by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. Inside, there is plenty of room to move between displays, with the collections organized on separate racks rather than packed tightly together, making the store easy to navigate.

Linen Drama’s clothing is made in India, using 100 percent pure European linen, with select pieces featuring hand embroidery. For women, they offer dresses, tailored blazers, kurtas (traditional long tunic-style garments), and coordinated sets, giving the familiar fabric a surprisingly broad range. The Shimmer Collection adds a subtle sheen for a dressier take on linen, while embroidered pieces bring more color and pattern into the mix. Men can choose from shirts and kurtas in classic, Mandarin, and shawl-collar styles, including several embroidered designs.

Women’s dresses run from $150 to $325, while men’s shirts and kurtas generally fall between $150 and $175. Those looking to finish the outfit can also browse handbags, footwear, stoles, and scarves throughout the shop. Linen Drama is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 7 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. – Amanda Martell

Founded by Helena Solly, Cabana Chic began as an online boutique specializing in resort wear for the seemingly endless Miami summer. Now the local brand has made the leap to brickand- mortar, opening its first Coral Gables shop on Miracle Mile.

The boutique arrived through the City of Coral Gables’ Pop-Up Retail Space Program, where it was selected from eight applicants for a six-month lease. Its recent ribbon cutting brought together Mayor Vince Lago, Vice Mayor Rhonda Anderson, and Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce Vice President Gloria Baez.

The opening included a giveaway with a twist, as guests scooped an image of a dress from a bowl before searching the racks for its match. Those who made the right match got to keep the dress.

The selection ranges from colorful maxi dresses and matching sets to wide-leg pants and cover-ups. Among the labels is Trina Turk, the California lifestyle brand known for its bold prints. Handbags and jewelry are mixed throughout, along with CÉCIE hats, designed in Miami and hand-painted by artisans in Mexico. Prices include a tropical halter maxi dress at $156, a Palm Springs pant set at $218, and Trina Turk wide-leg pants at $358. The Dagger fedora, a Cabana Chic collaboration with CÉCIE, is priced at $375.

The boutique also has a rewards program, with members receiving 50 points for signing up, then earning one point for every dollar spent. Blocks of 150 points can be redeemed for 10 percent off any order over $150. – Amanda Martell
