The Love Witch 35 mm screening (10th Anniversary)
October 31 @ 8:30 pm
A special 35mm screening of “The Love Witch” at Coral Gables Art Cinema marks the film’s 10th anniversary as part of Miami Film Festival GEMS 2026. Written and directed by Anna Biller, the 2016 horror-comedy follows Elaine, a young witch determined to find a man who will love her.
From her Gothic Victorian apartment, Elaine uses spells and potions to seduce men, leaving behind a series of victims who fail to meet her expectations of romance. When she finally encounters the man of her dreams, her obsession with finding love takes a dangerous turn, leading toward madness and murder.
Drawing visual inspiration from the Technicolor thrillers of the 1960s, the film examines female fantasy, romantic obsession, and pathological narcissism. The 120-minute feature screens at Coral Gables Art Cinema, 260 Aragon Ave., as part of the festival’s retrospective programming.
