Seraphic Fire: Season 24 Opening Concert
October 16 @ 7:30 pm
Seraphic Fire opens its 24th season with a choir and chamber orchestra performance conducted by its new Artistic Director, Dr. James K. Bass. The program features works spanning more than three centuries, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, featuring piano, solo violin, and chorus, and Eric Whitacre’s unaccompanied choral composition When David Heard. The concert also pairs Dieterich Buxtehude’s Baroque work Ad Manus with Caroline Shaw’s contemporary composition To the Hands. The selections explore themes of grief, devotion, and human connection, with works being performed live for Seraphic Fire audiences for the first time.
