Truffle Temptations

What began as a honeymoon discovery in the rolling hills of Tuscany has now found a permanent home in Coral Gables: Truffle Temptations, founded by husband-and-wife duo Eory Madera and Rafael Fermoselle. Prior to opening, Truffle Temptations operated mainly through farmers markets (16 a month), introducing their products through tastings and teaching customers how to incorporate truffles into their everyday meals. “Truffle Temptations began as a dream during our honeymoon in Italy,” says owner Eory Madera Miranda. “We fell in love with the culture of truffles and realized that this experience didn’t really exist in Miami.”

The storefront houses customer favorites, including their white sauce with truffle ($19.99) and their Cream with Parmigiano Reggiano and Truffle ($15.99 to $54.99). The store also carries seasonal fresh truffles and specialty items not always available at the farmers markets. Guided tastings are also offered, giving customers the chance to sample and discover new ingredients to apply to their favorite dishes. Products are sourced through a partnership with theSavini Tartufi family in Tuscany, a truffle-hunting family with over four generations of expertise in sustainably foraged truffles. “Watching people discover truffles, ask questions, and realize how easy it is to elevate a simple dish with them is what inspires us to keep growing and sharing this passion with our community,” says co-owner Rafael Fermoselle –Amanda Martell

Maison Mischief

Part of the job of any interior designer is to help clients find objects to decorate their homes. That is the idea behind Maison Mischief, the debut retail boutique from Katie and Ruben Gutierrez, founders of the Miami-based interior design firm Errez Design.
Ruben, the firm’s founder and creative director, studied architecture at Florida International University, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees while working full-time at local firms. Time spent working alongside architect Alison Spear pushed him deeper into understanding the relationship between objects and space, reinforcing that a well-chosen piece of furniture or décor is just as foundational as the walls around it. Katie, a Miami native, followed a similar path, earning her master’s in architecture from the University of Florida before joining MC Harry, one of Coconut Grove’s oldest firms. The two eventually joined forces to launch Errez Design in 2009 and have continued building on that foundation ever since.

Maison Mischief feels like a gallery. Inside, fringe chandeliers, statement color furniture, and artwork line every wall. The store carries a wide selection of furniture, barware, dinnerware, candles, decorative objects, and coffee table books, organized into collections such as Chromatique, Opera, Rockstar, Glamping, and Palmera Club. Prices range from throw pillows around $172 and sculptural décor for $495 to furniture starting at $5,250. Their full selection is also available online, and the design studio offers both residential and commercial services. – Amanda Martell
