Spring Spectacular: Spirit of the People

The Spring Spectacular: Spirit of the People concert will take place March 15 at 6 pm at Maurice Gusman Concert Hallon the University of Miami campus. The performance is presented by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band under the direction of Robert Longfield, with guest conductor Jay C. Rees.
The program features fanfares, folk melodies, and patriotic compositions written for symphonic band. The repertoire draws on traditional folk material and ceremonial works commonly performed by wind ensembles, along with music connected to historical themes of resilience and victory. Later portions of the program include compositions inspired by English folk traditions and large scale symphonic works designed to showcase the full ensemble.
The 2025 to 2026 concert season is supported by the City of Coral Gables, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council, and the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, along with support from Symphonettes.
