Natchez Screening

March 7 @ 1:30 pm 3:30 pm

Coral Gables Art Cinema will host special screenings of “Natchez,” followed by a Q&A with director Suzannah Herbert.

Set in Natchez, Mississippi, the documentary examines how a town shaped by the antebellum South presents and interprets its history. Through interviews and observational footage, the film documents tensions between public memory and lived experience, focusing on how historical narratives are maintained, challenged, and reframed within the community.

The film balances archival context with present day encounters, highlighting debates over heritage tourism, identity, and historical accountability. “Natchez” premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, where it received the award for Best Documentary Feature.
