Remembering Jeannett Slesnick

We sadly note today the passing of Jeannett Slesnick. Few people have contributed more to the City of Coral Gables than Jeannett. She served our city’s government for two years as an elected member of the Coral Gables City Commission, as a member of the Economic Development Board, and as Vice-Chair of the Historic Preservation Board.

Jeannett also served as the President of the Junior Orange Bowl, as Chair of the Coral Gables Community Foundation (creating the important seniors program “Gables At Home”) and as the first Secretary of the Coral Gables Museum Board. She was also on the Board of the Coral Gables Garden Club.

Jeannett was honored as “Volunteer of the Year” and later as “Sustainer of the Year” by the Junior League of Miami. She has received other awards and recognitions, and served as first lady of the Rotary Club, first lady of the Orange Bowl Committee and for 10 years as first lady of Coral Gables. She was also the publisher and editor of the monthly Jeannett’s Journal. She will be greatly missed.
