SUMMARY:Così fan tutte by W.A. Mozart | Frost Opera Theater & Frost Symphony Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:With a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte and music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart\, “Così fan tutte” is presented in a staging set aboard a cruise ship. This production places the opera’s original narrative within a nautical setting while preserving Mozart’s full score. \n\n\n\nThe creative team includes Jeffrey Buchman as stage director and program director\, Yun Xuan Cao as conductor\, Jenny Snyder as music director\, and Rosa Mercedes as choreographer. \n\n\n\nThe opera centers on two officers who agree to test the fidelity of their fiancées through disguise. What follows is a structured sequence of role playing\, reversals\, and shifting alliances that drive the dramatic and musical arc of the work. Mozart’s score remains central to the production\, with ensemble numbers and arias shaping the progression of the story.

SUMMARY:Roots of the Americas Exhibit Opening
DESCRIPTION:Roots of the Americas explores the lasting cultural\, ecological\, and historical impact of plants and crops native to the Americas. Drawing from the Jay I. Kislak Collection of the Early Americas\, Exploration and Navigation\, the exhibition examines crops such as corn\, tobacco\, cacao\, and medicinal plants\, highlighting their central role in Indigenous societies long before European contact. \n\n\n\nThrough historical materials and botanical context\, the exhibition traces how Indigenous agricultural knowledge shaped economies\, spiritual practices\, and community life across the hemisphere. It also addresses the profound shifts that followed European colonization\, as these crops entered global markets\, altered landscapes\, and transformed local and international economies. The exhibition connects these histories to contemporary foodways and cultural identities\, underscoring how the legacy of colonialism continues to influence daily life today.

SUMMARY:One Night in Miami…
DESCRIPTION:Set on February 25\, 1964\, the film centers on the night Cassius Clay\, portrayed by Eli Goree\, defeated Sonny Liston to claim the World Heavyweight Championship. Later that evening in Miami\, Clay\, who would soon rename himself Muhammad Ali\, gathered with three prominent figures: Malcolm X\, played by Kingsley Ben Adir; singer Sam Cooke\, portrayed by Leslie Odom Jr.; and football star Jim Brown\, played by Aldis Hodge. \n\n\n\nDirected by Regina King and written by Kemp Powers\, based on his stage play of the same name\, the film presents a fictional account of the private meeting. Malcolm X\, preparing for a new direction in his activism that would place him at significant personal risk\, organizes the gathering in hopes of securing Clay’s support. Over the course of the evening\, the four men debate their public influence\, personal responsibility\, and the expectations placed on them during a pivotal period in the Civil Rights Movement. \n\n\n\nMore than five decades later\, the themes explored in the film\, including racial injustice\, celebrity\, leadership\, and social accountability\, continue to hold relevance. \n\n\n\nFilm followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Marvin Dunn (author & historian) and Curb Gardner (CEO\, Historic Hampton House).

SUMMARY:From Venezuela to the American Southwest
DESCRIPTION:This chamber music program brings together works by María Teresa Carreño\, Amy Beach\, and Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate\, highlighting composers whose contributions expanded the classical canon across generations and cultures. \n\n\n\nThe program includes Carreño’s String Quartet in B minor from 1896. Carreño was a Venezuelan pianist\, soprano\, composer\, and conductor whose 54 year career established her as an internationally recognized virtuoso. Beach was an American composer and pianist and the first successful American female composer of large scale art music. Her “Gaelic” Symphony\, premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1896\, was the first symphony composed and published by an American woman. \n\n\n\nThe program concludes with Pisachi\, meaning Reveal\, by Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate. His commissioned works have been performed by major orchestras in Washington\, DC; San Francisco; Detroit; and Minneapolis.
