Its work includes the Teach the Truth Tours\, which bring participants to historic sites connected to racial violence and Black history throughout the state.

DESCRIPTION:Conductor Gerard Schwarz leads a program featuring works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky\, with flutist Chi Ting as soloist. \n\n\n\nThe concert opens with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D major\, K. 385\, known as the “Haffner” Symphony. Written in 1782 and named for the Haffner family\, who commissioned the work\, the four-movement piece was originally conceived as a serenade before Mozart reworked it as a symphony. \n\n\n\nChi Ting joins the program for Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D major\, K. 314/285d. Mozart adapted the work from his Oboe Concerto in C major\, K. 314\, creating a technically demanding concerto that has become an important part of the flute repertoire. \n\n\n\nThe program concludes with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor\, Op. 74\, known as the “Pathétique.” It was the final symphony premiered during Tchaikovsky’s lifetime\, debuting nine days before his death. Its title comes from the Russian “Pateticheskaya\,” a term associated with passion and deep emotion.

The book focuses on decision-making inside the White House\, changes within the administration\, and the exercise of presidential power during Trump’s second term. \n\n\n\nHaberman is a White House correspondent for The New York Times and previously worked for Politico\, the New York Post\, and the New York Daily News. She was part of the Times team awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on Trump’s advisers and their connections to Russia. \n\n\n\nTickets are required. One ticket option admits two guests and includes one copy of “Regime Change.” A limited number of free single-admission tickets are also available without a book. DESCRIPTION:The Coral Gables Museum and Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired present a Family Day in recognition of Cortical Visual Impairment Awareness Month and the unveiling of “America Touched\, America Seen.” Programming is designed for families of all ages and abilities and focuses on accessible ways to engage with art\, sports\, books\, and games. \n\n\n\nFrom 10 am to 5 pm\, The Museum Project leads a tactile arts and crafts activity inspired by “America Touched\, America Seen.” Blind soccer demonstrations take place from 11 am to noon and 1 to 2 pm with U.S. National Blind Soccer Team member Oseas De Leon. Participants can learn how the sport is played and take part in drills using blindfolds\, specialized soccer balls\, and adapted equipment. \n\n\n\nFrom 3 to 4 pm\, Miami Lighthouse Academy presents a storytime with Braille books and educational activities for children with visual impairments. Chess and accessible games run from 3 to 5 pm\, with tactile chess sets\, Braille dominoes\, Braille UNO\, low-vision playing cards\, and other accessible games available. \n\n\n\nAn all-day self-guided scavenger hunt also takes visitors through the museum’s “La Vida es un Carnaval de Barranquilla” and “America Touched\, America Seen” exhibitions.

Proceeds from sales of “Ofelia the Bee” support the foundation’s educational and conservation initiatives.

DESCRIPTION:Learn the fundamentals of growing and maintaining orchids in South Florida during this three-session series led by Melana Davison\, an accredited American Orchid Society judge and orchid nursery grower. \n\n\n\nThe classes cover popular orchid varieties and the five essentials of orchid care: light\, water\, air\, food\, and growing medium. Participants will also learn how to identify and prevent common pests and diseases\, with guidance geared toward both beginners and more experienced orchid growers. \n\n\n\nThe series concludes with a hands-on clinic focused on repotting and mounting orchids. Registration includes two orchids for participants to take home\, one to practice repotting and one to practice mounting. \n\n\n\nDavison is co-owner of Jim-N-I Orchids in Homestead and owns The Orchidiva\, an orchid maintenance business serving collections throughout Miami-Dade and South Florida. She has also served as president of the Orchid Society of Coral Gables for 12 years and now serves as vice president. Davison chairs the Orchid Show at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s annual Orchid Festival and lectures on orchid cultivation for orchid societies and garden clubs.
