Republican candidate Maria Elvira Salazar was invited to speak but is unable to participate due to a prior commitment. \n\n\n\nFor the Florida Attorney General race\, Democratic candidate Jose Javier Rodriguez has confirmed his participation. Republican candidate James Uthmeier has also been invited\, but no response has been received to date. \n\n\n\nRegistration and refreshments are scheduled from 5:30 to 6 pm\, followed by the program and Q&A session from 6 to 8 pm in the church’s Fellowship Hall. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required by Sept. 9. Bustamante\, Emilio Bacardí Moreau Chair in Cuban and Cuban-American Studies and Director of Academic Programs at the University of Miami’s Cuban Heritage Collection\, will moderate the conversation. Panelists include Dr. Alejandro de la Fuente of Harvard University\, Dr. Bárbaro Martínez-Ruiz of Indiana University Bloomington\, and artist and University of Massachusetts Amherst professor Juana Valdés. \n\n\n\nThe discussion draws from the exhibitions “El Pasado Mío / My Own Past: Afrodescendant Contributions to Cuban Art” and “Afrocubanismo: Highlights from the Ramón and Nercys Cernuda Collection\,” both guest curated by de la Fuente. \n\n\n\nPanelists will discuss more than two centuries of Afro-Cuban artistic production\, including race\, identity\, historical memory\, modernism\, and artistic practice. The conversation will also examine how museums\, archives\, exhibitions\, and academic research can recover overlooked histories and expand the study of Cuban art.

The 93-minute documentary follows three American physicians of Palestinian\, Jewish\, and Zoroastrian backgrounds who volunteered in hospitals in Gaza and later brought their advocacy for patients and medical colleagues to Washington. The film is not rated and includes English\, Arabic\, and Hebrew\, with English subtitles.  \n\n\n\nTeng is the producer of the Oscar-nominated “St. Louis Superman” and an Emmy-winning executive producer of “Patrice: The Movie.” “American Doctor” is her feature documentary directing debut.

Participants will also learn how to identify and prevent common pests and diseases\, with guidance geared toward both beginners and more experienced orchid growers. \n\n\n\nThe series concludes with a hands-on clinic focused on repotting and mounting orchids. Registration includes two orchids for participants to take home\, one to practice repotting and one to practice mounting. \n\n\n\nDavison is co-owner of Jim-N-I Orchids in Homestead and owns The Orchidiva\, an orchid maintenance business serving collections throughout Miami-Dade and South Florida. She has also served as president of the Orchid Society of Coral Gables for 12 years and now serves as vice president. Davison chairs the Orchid Show at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s annual Orchid Festival and lectures on orchid cultivation for orchid societies and garden clubs.

It may be canceled during severe thunderstorms\, with notice sent by email. Parking is not included. Garage parking\, limited PayByPhone spaces and valet parking are available at varying rates. Tickets are limited\, and registered participants should cancel their reservation if they can no longer attend.
