SUMMARY:Sotto Voce
DESCRIPTION:Written and directed by Nilo Cruz\, Sotto Voce explores how memory shapes identity and how the past persists across generations. The play centers on a young Jewish Cuban researcher whose fixation on the history of the MS St. Louis leads him to an elderly novelist still marked by a love lost during the voyage. \n\n\n\nAs their conversations unfold\, personal memory and historical record begin to intersect. The story moves between past and present\, examining inherited trauma\, desire\, and the emotional aftermath of displacement and survival. Rather than offering a linear historical account\, Sotto Voce focuses on the private consequences of a public tragedy and the ways silence and remembrance coexist.

SUMMARY:An Evening with James Grippando
DESCRIPTION:Books & Books welcomes James Grippando for an evening discussion of “The Right to Remain\,” the newest installment in his long running Jack Swyteck series. The novel marks the twentieth appearance of the Miami criminal defense attorney and centers on one of the most challenging cases of his career. \n\n\n\nIn “The Right to Remain\,” Swyteck represents Elliott Stafford\, a man indicted for murder who refuses to speak to anyone involved in his defense. His silence goes beyond invoking the Fifth Amendment. He will not address the court\, his partner\, or his own attorney\, and there is no medical or psychological explanation for his behavior. As public attention grows and pressure mounts to abandon the case\, Swyteck continues digging for answers. \n\n\n\nWhat begins as a baffling defense strategy turns into something more troubling. The facts Elliott previously shared begin to unravel\, including details about his past\, his family\, and his criminal history. As Swyteck investigates further\, he comes to believe his client may not be protecting himself\, but someone else\, raising serious legal and moral stakes. \n\n\n\nGrippando draws on his background as a trial lawyer to shape a story grounded in courtroom procedure and legal tension. The event offers readers insight into the latest chapter of a series that has remained a fixture in legal fiction for decades.

SUMMARY:Book Signing: Bert McCracken of The Used
DESCRIPTION:Join Bert McCracken\, lead singer of The Used\, celebrating the release of “In Love and Death: The Lost Notebook.” The book centers on a personal notebook McCracken kept while writing The Used’s 2004 album “In Love and Death.” Long believed to be lost\, the notebook resurfaced online nearly twenty years later and was returned to him. Its pages include handwritten lyrics\, poems\, sketches\, and personal reflections from that period\, offering direct insight into the creative process behind one of the band’s most recognized records. \n\n\n\nRather than a traditional memoir\, “In Love and Death: The Lost Notebook” presents the source material itself. The entries capture an unfiltered period of McCracken’s early adulthood and document themes of grief\, addiction\, creativity\, and survival as they appeared in real time. This signing offers readers the chance to engage with the artifact behind the music and meet the artist who created it.
