SUMMARY:Sotto Voce
DESCRIPTION:Written and directed by Nilo Cruz\, Sotto Voce explores how memory shapes identity and how the past persists across generations. The play centers on a young Jewish Cuban researcher whose fixation on the history of the MS St. Louis leads him to an elderly novelist still marked by a love lost during the voyage. \n\n\n\nAs their conversations unfold\, personal memory and historical record begin to intersect. The story moves between past and present\, examining inherited trauma\, desire\, and the emotional aftermath of displacement and survival. Rather than offering a linear historical account\, Sotto Voce focuses on the private consequences of a public tragedy and the ways silence and remembrance coexist.

SUMMARY:Twelfth Night
DESCRIPTION:Named for the twelfth night after Christmas\, William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night centers on questions of love\, identity\, and social power. The story follows Viola and Sebastian\, twins separated by a shipwreck\, each believing the other has died. Stranded in Illyria\, Viola disguises herself as a male page and enters the service of Duke Orsino. \n\n\n\nOrsino is in love with Countess Olivia\, who manages her own household and is mourning her brother. He sends Viola\, in disguise\, to deliver messages of devotion on his behalf. Olivia instead becomes attracted to the messenger\, unaware of Viola’s true identity. The situation is further complicated by Malvolio\, Olivia’s steward\, and Sir Andrew Aguecheek\, another suitor competing for her attention. \n\n\n\nAs mistaken identities and misplaced affections build\, the play examines loyalty\, ambition\, and the fluid nature of attraction. Through intersecting storylines and comic reversals\, Shakespeare constructs a layered narrative that resolves once the twins are reunited. \n\n\n\n Student Night will be on March 3rd at 8PM.  FREE Admission with your Cane ID!
