SUMMARY:One Night in Miami…
DESCRIPTION:Set on February 25\, 1964\, the film centers on the night Cassius Clay\, portrayed by Eli Goree\, defeated Sonny Liston to claim the World Heavyweight Championship. Later that evening in Miami\, Clay\, who would soon rename himself Muhammad Ali\, gathered with three prominent figures: Malcolm X\, played by Kingsley Ben Adir; singer Sam Cooke\, portrayed by Leslie Odom Jr.; and football star Jim Brown\, played by Aldis Hodge. \n\n\n\nDirected by Regina King and written by Kemp Powers\, based on his stage play of the same name\, the film presents a fictional account of the private meeting. Over the course of the evening\, the four men debate their public influence\, personal responsibility\, and the expectations placed on them during a pivotal period in the Civil Rights Movement. \n\n\n\nMore than five decades later\, the themes explored in the film\, including racial injustice\, celebrity\, leadership\, and social accountability\, continue to hold relevance. \n\n\n\nFilm followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Marvin Dunn (author & historian) and Curb Gardner (CEO\, Historic Hampton House).

SUMMARY:The Black Power Mixtape 1967 to 1975 Screening and Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:This screening of “The Black Power Mixtape 1967 to 1975” will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by filmmaker Dudley Alexis and featuring journalist and community historian Nadege Green. \n\n\n\nThe documentary draws from 16mm footage filmed by Swedish journalists who traveled to the United States during a period of urban unrest and political transformation. Seeking to document the rise of the Black Power Movement\, the filmmakers gained direct access to key figures including Stokely Carmichael\, Bobby Seale\, Angela Davis\, and Eldridge Cleaver. The footage captures interviews and moments that provide historical context to the movement’s leadership\, organizing efforts\, and public messaging. \n\n\n\nThe material remained archived in the basement of Swedish Television for decades before being rediscovered. Director Göran Olsson\, alongside co producer Danny Glover\, assembled the recovered footage into a feature documentary combining archival film\, music\, and narration to trace the development of the Black Power Movement from 1967 through 1975. \n\n\n\nThe post film panel will expand on the historical significance of the documentary and its continued relevance.

SUMMARY:TheyDream
DESCRIPTION:TheyDream is an autobiographical documentary two decades in the making. Director William D. SUMMARY:Cookie Queens
DESCRIPTION:Cookie Queens is a coming-of-age documentary about one of America’s most beloved annual rituals: Girl Scout Cookie season. Behind the Thin Mints and the badges lies an $800 million business\, and director Alysa Nahmias places four girls\, ages 5 to 12\, at the center of it. \n\n\n\nThe film follows the girls and their families through the annual selling season with candor and warmth\, capturing the real pressures underneath the smiles: long hours\, ambitious sales goals\, and the weight of high expectations. For these girls\, selling cookies is less about sisterhood and more about a first encounter with commercialism\, competition\, and what it means to succeed. Nahmias balances the humor and heart of childhood with an honest look at what America asks of its youngest participants.
