SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Inner Resilience Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:University of Miami Libraries offers a series of 45-minute online mindfulness sessions as part of its Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs. The introductory sessions focus on mindfulness meditation and movement\, with guided practice\, time for reflection and opportunities for participants to ask questions. \n\n\n\nTopics throughout the fall include mindfulness of breathing\, body\, thoughts and emotions\, loving-kindness\, self-compassion\, walking meditation\, equanimity\, creativity\, gratitude and joy. \n\n\n\nMost sessions are led by Kelly Miller\, a Certified Mindfulness Teacher\, Director of Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs and Associate Dean for Learning and Research Services at University of Miami Libraries. Professor Scott Rogers\, director of the University of Miami School of Law’s Mindfulness in Law Program\, will lead a special session on Oct. 7. SUMMARY:A Dose of Fun: The Wonder Show!
DESCRIPTION:GableStage presents “The Wonder Show!\,” part of its new family theatre series\, “A Dose of Fun!\,” at 12:00 pm. The original 40-minute production combines puppetry\, music\, and interactive storytelling as Chef Kitty travels through the Realm of Wonder\, encountering knights\, pirates\, mermaids\, and a dragon. \n\n\n\nFollowing the performance\, families can participate in a cast talkback and an interactive puppet-making workshop where children can create their own puppets. \n\n\n\nPerformances are scheduled for October 3\, December 12\, January 30\, March 27\, and May 22. Presented by the Carol Marie Weber Family Foundation\, the series is part of GableStage’s education and outreach programming\, which also includes community performances and residencies at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and Holtz Children’s Hospital.

SUMMARY:Tour the Historic Doc Thomas House
DESCRIPTION:The Tropical Audubon Society offers free\, one-hour guided tours of its historic Doc Thomas House headquarters\, with sessions from 1:00 to 2:00 pm and 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Led by a Tropical Audubon docent\, the tours cover the history of the 1932 Florida vernacular cottage\, its ongoing restoration and its connection to Arden Hayes “Doc” Thomas\, a Tropical Audubon patron and area pioneer. \n\n\n\nisitors will learn about architect Robert Fitch Smith\, who designed the house using native woods and limestone. Each tour includes an indoor presentation and an outdoor walk highlighting the property’s architectural features. \n\n\n\nVisitors can also explore the surrounding bird-friendly pollinator gardens and nature trails. \n\n\n\nDonations are welcome.
