SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Inner Resilience Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:University of Miami Libraries offers a series of 45-minute online mindfulness sessions as part of its Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs. The introductory sessions focus on mindfulness meditation and movement\, with guided practice\, time for reflection and opportunities for participants to ask questions. \n\n\n\nTopics throughout the fall include mindfulness of breathing\, body\, thoughts and emotions\, loving-kindness\, self-compassion\, walking meditation\, equanimity\, creativity\, gratitude and joy. \n\n\n\nMost sessions are led by Kelly Miller\, a Certified Mindfulness Teacher\, Director of Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs and Associate Dean for Learning and Research Services at University of Miami Libraries. Professor Scott Rogers\, director of the University of Miami School of Law’s Mindfulness in Law Program\, will lead a special session on Oct. 7. DESCRIPTION:Children’s author Sita Singh discusses her new picture book\, “Indigo Hands\,” in conversation with Miami-based designer and educator Veronica Buitron. \n\n\n\nThe book follows Neela as she visits her grandfather Dadu’s indigo studio and learns how indigo is grown\, prepared\, and used to dye cloth. The intergenerational story explores family\, tradition\, and the process behind natural indigo dyeing. \n\n\n\nSingh is an Indian American children’s author whose work focuses on heritage\, identity\, and belonging. Buitron specializes in natural dyes and sustainable textiles and has taught natural dyeing workshops in Ecuador and Miami. \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the public. RSVP provides general entry but does not guarantee seating. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

SUMMARY:Behind the Stage Door
DESCRIPTION:Actors’ Playhouse will hold a complimentary season preview at the Miracle Theatre\, presented by Cogent Bank. The afternoon will include live performances\, backstage demonstrations\, family activities\, refreshments\, and a first look at the company’s 2026–2027 season. \n\n\n\nGuests can preview the theatre’s 600 new Mainstage seats and learn about its seat-naming program. The event will also feature the cast of “Jekyll & Hyde” in a preview performance ahead of the musical’s season opening\, along with an appearance by Dorothy and the cast of “The Wizard of Oz” from Actors’ Playhouse’s Children’s Theatre. \n\n\n\nCostume\, lighting\, sound\, and scenic professionals will demonstrate how productions are developed\, and attendees can view the “Jekyll & Hyde” set while it is under construction. \n\n\n\nFamily activities include cookies from Night Owl Cookies and cookie-decorating demonstrations. Bacardi cocktails will be available for adult guests\, and DJ CEELO will provide music throughout the afternoon. \n\n\n\nAdmission is complimentary with a reservation.
