SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Inner Resilience Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:University of Miami Libraries offers a series of 45-minute online mindfulness sessions as part of its Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs. The introductory sessions focus on mindfulness meditation and movement\, with guided practice\, time for reflection and opportunities for participants to ask questions. \n\n\n\nTopics throughout the fall include mindfulness of breathing\, body\, thoughts and emotions\, loving-kindness\, self-compassion\, walking meditation\, equanimity\, creativity\, gratitude and joy. \n\n\n\nMost sessions are led by Kelly Miller\, a Certified Mindfulness Teacher\, Director of Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs and Associate Dean for Learning and Research Services at University of Miami Libraries. Professor Scott Rogers\, director of the University of Miami School of Law’s Mindfulness in Law Program\, will lead a special session on Oct. 7. SUMMARY:An Evening with Arturo Rodríguez
DESCRIPTION:Cuban American artist Arturo Rodríguez discusses his forthcoming monograph\, “Arturo Rodríguez\,” in conversation with art historians Alejandro Anreus and Bruce Weber. The book is the first publication devoted exclusively to Rodríguez’s career and surveys nearly 47 years of his artistic practice. \n\n\n\nThe discussion will examine Rodríguez’s figurative paintings and the themes of memory\, family\, exile\, identity and Miami that appear throughout his work. Rodríguez is a self-taught artist based in Miami whose work is held in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, the Smithsonian American Art Museum\, Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Lowe Art Museum. \n\n\n\nThe conversation will also cover the development of the monograph and Rodríguez’s work addressing memory\, exile\, belonging and the Cuban American experience. \n\n\n\nRodríguez will be joined by Alejandro Anreus\, emeritus professor at William Paterson University\, and Bruce Weber\, an art historian\, curator and poet.
