SUMMARY:An Evening With Thomas Swick in Conversation With Carlos Frías
DESCRIPTION:Author Thomas Swick will discuss the paperback release of his memoir\, “Falling Into Place\,” in conversation with journalist and author Carlos Frías. \n\n\n\nThe memoir follows Swick’s experiences beginning in 1976\, when he met Polish student Hania and later moved with her to Warsaw. Over the following decade\, he lived in Poland\, Greece\, and Philadelphia while witnessing major political and social changes in Poland\, including Pope John Paul II’s return to the country\, the rise of Solidarity\, the imposition of martial law\, and Poland’s first free elections since before World War II. The book also traces Swick’s relationship with Hania and his eventual career as a travel writer. \n\n\n\nSwick served as travel editor of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel from 1989 to 2008 and is the author of four books. His work has appeared in newspapers\, magazines\, literary journals\, and anthologies. \n\n\n\nThe conversation will be moderated by Carlos Frías\, a bilingual journalist and writer with more than 30 years of experience. He is the author of the memoir “Take Me With You: A Secret Search for Family in a Forbidden Cuba.”
