SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Inner Resilience Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:University of Miami Libraries offers a series of 45-minute online mindfulness sessions as part of its Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs. The introductory sessions focus on mindfulness meditation and movement\, with guided practice\, time for reflection and opportunities for participants to ask questions. \n\n\n\nTopics throughout the fall include mindfulness of breathing\, body\, thoughts and emotions\, loving-kindness\, self-compassion\, walking meditation\, equanimity\, creativity\, gratitude and joy. \n\n\n\nMost sessions are led by Kelly Miller\, a Certified Mindfulness Teacher\, Director of Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs and Associate Dean for Learning and Research Services at University of Miami Libraries. Professor Scott Rogers\, director of the University of Miami School of Law’s Mindfulness in Law Program\, will lead a special session on Oct. 7. SUMMARY:Chewy Pack Walks
DESCRIPTION:Chewy and The Underline will launch Chewy Pack Walks on Wednesday\, Aug. 26\, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Chewy Bark Park\, 4500 Ponce de Leon Blvd. The new monthly series begins on National Dog Day with a guided evening walk along The Underline for dogs and their owners. \n\n\n\nThe walk will begin and end at Chewy Bark Park\, followed by refreshments\, Chewy giveaways and photo opportunities. Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and Sanctuary will bring adoptable dogs\, including Karri\, a 3-year-old English bulldog. Chewy will cover the adoption fees for select participating dogs.

DESCRIPTION:The Burrow’s Cinema Salon will screen Once as a tribute to Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard\, who died in July. Hansard starred in the 2007 film alongside Markéta Irglová and co-wrote its music\, including the Academy Award-winning song “Falling Slowly.” \n\n\n\nThe film follows two musicians who meet in Dublin and begin writing and performing music together. Following the screening\, guests can take part in a conversation about the film\, its music and Hansard’s work. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6:30 pm\, and the movie begins promptly at 7 pm. Tickets include soft drinks\, coffee\, tea\, wine and beer. A full bar and light bites will be available for purchase. \n\n\n\nSeating is first come\, first served\, and guests may be asked to share a table. Availability is limited.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Mike Becker
DESCRIPTION:NCAA Division I track and field coach Mike Becker will discuss the release of his debut book\, Coaching My Own Way\, which combines memoir with guidance for current and future coaches. \n\n\n\nThe book follows Becker’s coaching career over more than four decades\, beginning with his first head coaching position at the Palmer School in 1981. In 1987\, he became the nation’s youngest NCAA Division I head track and cross country coach at Florida International University. His career has also included induction into three halls of fame\, and he currently coaches at Ransom Everglades School. \n\n\n\nCoaching My Own Way reflects on Becker’s experiences as a coach\, including lessons learned\, career successes and his approach to helping student-athletes develop as people and leaders. \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the public. RSVP provides general admission\, but seating is not guaranteed\, and guests are encouraged to arrive early. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during the event.
