DESCRIPTION:Part of the University of Miami Libraries’ Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs\, Mindfulness for Inner Resilience offers free\, 45-minute online sessions designed to build focus\, calm\, and resilience through guided meditation\, mindful movement\, and reflection. \n\n\n\nSessions are led by Kelly Miller\, Certified Mindfulness Teacher and Director of Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs\, and Professor Scott Rogers\, Director of the Mindfulness in Law Program at the University of Miami School of Law. Guest teachers join select sessions. DESCRIPTION:The Miami Film Festival presents “Stranger Than Fiction: UM Short Documentary Award.” The program features five short documentaries competing for the University of Miami Documentary Award\, spanning subjects from immigration and identity to justice and the unexpected. \n\n\n\nThe lineup includes “Arepas En Bici\,” following a chef cycling through San Francisco while reflecting on his immigration journey and Venezuelan culinary roots; “If You Really Love Me\, Outlive Me\,” a close look at honky-tonk musician Dale Watson and his wife Celine Lee\, told through their music and life in Americana; “They Call Me The Tattoo Witch\,” set in Hanoi\, where tattoo artist Tran Ngoc uses her work to transform scars and challenge the stigma surrounding tattoos in Vietnamese society; “Oh Whale\,” the story of a small Oregon town\, an exploding whale\, and the reporter who brought the story to national attention; and “Hilda O. Vs The State of New York\,” in which 81-year-old Hilda Onley pursues legal action against New York State for abuse she suffered as a teenager in 1958 at the New York State Training School for Girls. \n\n\n\nThe UM Documentary Award will be presented during the program.

DESCRIPTION:The third installment of the Teofilo Victoria Series features Jorge A. Sanchez\, Principal and President of SMI Landscape Architecture\, LLC. \n\n\n\nSanchez built his practice around a philosophy that merges a botanical garden approach with historic and classical formal garden design\, producing landscapes that are both visually distinctive and deeply considered. SMI is recognized not only for original design work but also for the preservation and restoration of historic landscapes. The firm’s projects have been published in national magazines and documented in three books: The Civilized Jungle\, The Making of Three Gardens\, and The Private Gardens of SMI Landscape Architecture. \n\n\n\nSanchez has received some of the field’s most respected honors\, including the Arthur Ross Award in Landscape Architecture in 2010\, recognized for bringing classical structure to the abundance of tropical gardens\, and the Thomas N. Armstrong III Award in Landscape Design from the New York School of Interior Design. He has served on zoning and architectural boards for the Town of Palm Beach and currently serves as a Director of the Garden Conservancy.

The progression is designed as a single guided arc from beginning to end. \n\n\n\nThe experience is led by Martín Coscia\, a representative of Colomé winery\, and Guida Rodríguez\, sommelier at Wine & Sense. Together they walk guests through the story of the vineyard from the source.
