DESCRIPTION:Part of the University of Miami Libraries’ Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs\, Mindfulness for Inner Resilience offers free\, 45-minute online sessions designed to build focus\, calm\, and resilience through guided meditation\, mindful movement\, and reflection. \n\n\n\nSessions are led by Kelly Miller\, Certified Mindfulness Teacher and Director of Mindfulness and Well-Being Programs\, and Professor Scott Rogers\, Director of the Mindfulness in Law Program at the University of Miami School of Law. DESCRIPTION:The Coral Gables Museum will host a community workshop focused on the creation of an Alfombra de Aserrín\, a traditional sawdust carpet commonly made in Guatemala during religious and cultural celebrations. These temporary works of art are created using colored sawdust arranged into decorative patterns and images along streets and public spaces. \n\n\n\nDuring the program\, participants will work together to design and assemble the carpet while learning about the history\, cultural meaning\, and artistic techniques behind the tradition. The activity introduces visitors to the process used to create these detailed designs and explains how alfombras have been used for generations as part of community celebrations and cultural expression.
