Coral Gables Election Results
The results are in! (Well, almost.)
In this month’s Coral Gables election for two city commission spots, Ariel Fernandez beat out Alex Bucelo for the Group V spot, while the race for the Group IV seat has come down to a runoff election between Ivette Arango O’Doski (above left) and Melissa Castro (above right).
The runoff election will take place on Tuesday, April 25 at your assigned precinct. Early voting and mail-in ballot drop-offs will take place on April 22 and 23 at the War Memorial Youth Center. In the initial election, Arango O’Doski beat out Castro by 527 votes, but fell short of the 50.1% majority required to stave off a runoff.

Meanwhile, Bucelo was defeated handily by Fernandez, who took over 58% of the votes, while both Jackson “Rip” Holmes and Sean McGrover, who were both running for the Group IV seat, garnered less than 7% of votes each. As previously reported, Mayor Vince Lago was re-elected to his two-year seat after running unopposed.
Overall, only about one in five of registered voters in Coral Gables turned out for the election.
