Boat House Parity
April 2019
One of George Merrick’s early visions for Coral Gables was to make it a kind of Florida Venice, with waterways providing boating access to Biscayne Bay. First and foremost of these Venetian canals was the Coral Gables Waterway, which snakes its way from the bay all the way to the Biltmore. In the lower half of the waterway, before low bridges cut o access, riverfront homes routinely sported boat houses for their pleasure craft, unique structures still in use today.
